Default clutch pedal sticks to floor, won't spring back

so last night i hop in the 89 100 Quattro and push the clutch to start the car. clutch pedal sticks to the floor and will not come back. you pull it back manually, push it in, and it just stays there.

i know really little about audi's but i noticed a hydraulic cylinder so the clutch has to be hydraulic. is there a chance that it just needs more fluid? how would i go about adding this.

if not, what would need to be replaced and what type of cost am i looking at

Default I'm thinking bad clutch slave cylinder....

You can check fluid level if you feel it may be low...but I don't think that would cause the clutch to stick to the ground like that. For this, check your brake fluid level to see if it's ok. The brake fluid runs the hydraulic clutch system too.

You can get a slave cylinder for ~$55 at www.thepartsconnection.com

Good luck.

Default search past threads for info on this

changing the slave requires a modified allen wrench and knowledge of bleeding the system.

Kinda awkward to work on too.
