Damn 16 year old brake hose
White knuckle ride last weeekend while driving on the highway. I blew a front brake hose. Brake pedal went to the floor, had to pump the brakes in order to get the car to stop all the while pumping out precious brake fluid.
Replaced hose yesterday and started to bleed it, but couldn't get a stiff pedal. WTF the rear hose was now leaking. Check the other two wheels and both brake hoses also had cracks in them. Changed all four hoses and things are back to normal.
Went to clean up and found out that my hot water heater is also leaking, WTF. Instead of working on cars this weekend, I'll be replacing a 55 gal. hot water heater.

OEM, since the original lasted 16 years and I just didn't want to play
around trying to make things work. Took about 1-1/2 hour to do all four wheels not counting time spent tracking down the other three hoses locally. I ordered the first hose on the internet, but I didn't want to wait two days for delivery so I found a local place which carried them. Who said finding parts for a V8 is difficult?

Kinda funny how around that 15 year mark they just have a tendency to go...Right b4 I sold my Pearl 91' 200 TQ sedan last fall one blew. Then my s.o.'s 91' 200 TQ avant blew a rear and we replaced them all with ss lines. $89 for the set of 4. He is in the very beginning stages of acquiring another 20v TQ to do a complete RS2 upgrade on the motor and stuff it in his avant when it is complete, then redo the one from his car possibly back to stock- but not sure as of yet, time will tell. Lookout forum... So 16 years isn't bad for a set of brake lines...one hopes they never go when you may need them most!

Yeah, I'm happy that the previous owner of my car replaced all the lines at all four wheels with the SS braided ones but, I still had a line under the car spring a leak last winter and had to have that line replaced. I guess you can't complain though since they've lasted so long. I hear about much newer cars needing them much sooner.
