Hmm, forgot that MC is aluminum on most of these cars, and it's melt point is MUCH lower than iron (660F vs. 1500-ish). Basic plastic melts around 410F, so possible.

Here in HOT south Florida, the after-run injector cooling is definitely a necessity. Without it, hot restarts (after say 10 minutes or more) are almost impossible 'til the engine cools. I guess that the fuel in the lines percolates without the cooling . . . I don't know. This is after normal city or highway driving, for say a half hour or more.

If I am visioning what Kneale was describing then yes, those items would be found at a Lowe/HD. It'll be part of forced hot air duct work into a floor regulator.(grill in floor). I'd imagine that the inlet side would be quite large (3" or more) but there is room under your hood to accomidate.

Yup, heating/cooling department. Those floor elbows can be a foot or more wide.

my brakes would apply themselves at the same place on my ride home unless I popped the hood or tossed a damp rag on the MC. weirdest thing.

Default One concern with using metal instead of plastic

would be heat absorption near ignition wires. Those heating ducts at Lowe's and Home Depot are wide and very thick comparing to original.I am also thinking of making one myself from sheet metal.

i honestly took what was left of my original one and patched it with cardboard and fibreglass. it looked like ***, but it worked. if someone spent a little more time on it, they can make a nice duplicate of one with those materials...
