Neat, my car is detonating at 10-12 psi.
The car is not overboosting and I just had the mixture set a month ago. Hmmm.
Timing off maybe? What else to look for?
Can't find any vacum leaks.
I haven't checked timing yet or pulled the spark plugs. I'll do that tommorow.
I'm so disgusted with the car right now![Frown](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)

I'd guess that if the knock sensor were inoperative it wouldn't tell the ECU when the engine began pinging (detonating / knocking). Therefor the ECU wouldn't retard the ignition timing and the engine would be free to ping under conditions of high load / high boost.
My WU engine has no knock sensor, so this is mere supposition.

...I was in the same position with mine at the beginning of the year. It will pass. My 88 5ktq is running so good now, I'm amazed. So hang in there Steve the old girl will come around.
