Default DIY 200 20v QT Catback Thread

Y-pipe, 3" to 2.5" - Magnaflow 10778 - $25.00

2 x 90 degree 3" mandrel bends - Magnaflow 10709 - $40.00
4 feet of 3" SS pipe - $34

FloPro 3" offset/center Straight Through Muffler - $49.00

Volt 3" Straight Through Resonator - $36.00

Bear River Converters 3" Resonated double walled angled exhaust tip - $36.00

I delt with Complete Exhaust Systems in New York for the Y-pipe, 3" tubing, and the bends. They saved me about $20 over Ebay pricing. The Muffler, Tip, and Resonator were bought off of Ebay. I cut and tacked the pipes together and made a few full welds, then took it to the local independent exhaust shop to have them fit it, weld on hangers, and make the transition from the OEM 2.25" pipe to 2.5" pipe for the Y-pipe. They charged me $60. Everything total was less than $300. I would guess that if they did all the work they'd have charged $125 to $200. Don't mind my crappy welds, or the dirty car!

This exhaust is very quiet. The only difference from stock is a subtle low grumble. Having done it, I think the resonator is unneccesary and actually, I tried running the car with just the volt resonator and the tip and the sound was VERY do-able if you want some sound, but not over-bearing. Also, there was enough straight pipe left over from the bends that I think the exhaust could have been pieced together without having the 4' of additional tubing.

I ran the car for a day with NO cat-back and it still wasn't terrible. The Cats and the Turbo do a good job of cutting back the noise.

The horsepower gain is very noticable and felt the same as having no cat-back. Seems to have a smoother throttle response, quicker spool, and a little more high end.

Default Nicely done!

Not too ricey, ala a WRX I saw with at least a 6" tip! The welds are terrible, but, way better than anything I could do.

No under-body corrosion at all, what's up wit dat? Doesn't Boise use salt on it's streets in winter?

The shop actually mentioned to PLEASE just tack the pipes next time. HAHA.

The state of Idaho uses gravel on all the roads to help prevent corrosion.

Are those the original cats on your car? Are these stock or have they been gutted and cleaned out? I am looking to find a straight pipe so that i can remove my two cats. Any ideas of where to pick to straight test pipes up from?

Thanks.
