Do you bring your own parts to mechanic or let him sell them to you?

I try to do most of my own work but some things are not worth the aggrevation, especially if I don't have the proper tools or knowledge. My question is......the times that you do bring your Audi to your mechanic do you bring your own parts? I'm thinking that if you bring your own parts and they fail the shop will be very quick to charge you labor again to remove the part. (as they should) VS if the shop sold you the part (even though they marked it up) and it fails the whole job would be under warranty.I always buy my parts from the shop when I take it there. I've always looked at like you don't go to a resturaunt and bring your own food and tell them to cook it LOL. Thoughts on this.......

But, I recognized it as a favor and wouldn't do it often. I had an axle and no time. Since it is a simple job and the "mechanic's discount" has disappeared they were willing to do it for me.

Actually, the Audi dealer let me use the door handle and just charged me labor for it. Im good friends with the Audi tech and service dept, so it wasnt a problem.

With the Audi it is sometimes a blessing for the shop
to have the parts brought in for them. If I don't trust them entirely then I get a quote on the labor first so they don't make up for it there.
