Do you guys recommend putting heet in the gas tank?

Somebody on the Q list posted that they found out from a professional detailer that the best way to remove dried tree sap from a car's finish is to put a little Heet or other gas dryer onto a soft rag and use little tiny circles until it goes away.
Well, I tried it with a shop rag and it wasn't soft enough and left scratches. However, when I used one of my 5 year old threadbare T shirts it worked like a champ. My sedan was parked under a tree for over 7 months while waiting for coin accumulation for a clutch job, had 4 or 5 _big_ globs of dried sap on the paint. Heet melted it away, just remember: _soft_ rag, tiny circles.
Oh, yeah, then drink beer when you're done.

Heet is fine if the temps are cold enough to warrant using it. I never used any all of last winter even though we had some below zero temps. I use a good clean fuel and normally add Heet to a full tank every other time if temps are below 15 degrees. I have never had a problem with moisture.

You are from the south obviously. I was impressed that Steve Jensen has found uses for Heet in Georgia. Heet is a gas additive commonly used in the cold North for winter moisture/gas line freeze prevention.
It is a form of Isopropyl Alcohol which coats the moisture condensation drops and takes them through the combustion process for evaporation. We have a condensation problem prevalent in the cold North which is aggravated by not keeping the gas tank full and running a low grade gas. I never pick up strange cut rate gas in winter. The Heet works!
