Dont get it,thermostat not stuck open or broken,looks fine.So why is
the temp taking forever to get to norm operating temp. Are the 2 temp sending units prone to go bad also? I know there are seperate water and engine temp guages but both seem to take a long time to get to normal.Thats why I suspected the thermostat,but today I got the thermostat out and thought I would find a stuck open or broken one but it was closed and looks good. So why are both temp guages so slow to get up to normal? '93 v8 quattro

Even though it's closed when cool doesn't mean it's good......
I'd heat it in a pan of water on the stove with a thermometer and see if it's opening pre-maturely. In any case I would put in a new one if you still have the old one out.
