Default Drivers' door handle not opening door

Well, the door got hard to open from the outside this week until it wouldn't open at all-I can still get it from the inside. How hard is this to fix? It's more annoying than dangerous.

Default That happens a lot on these cars

Usually a winter problem. there is a little rod that pops off inside the door. you'll have to remove the inside door panel to get at it. not hard just a few screws. get the panel off and disconnect all the wiring so you can get it out of the way. then look up inside at where the outer door handle is, you should see a rod that has poped off. pull the handle from the outside (while looking up inside)to see the arm that moves up and down on the inside then just pop the rod back on the arm. it might not be this easy but thats all I had to do.
Hope that helps

Default Re: Door handle itself is a weak point

There's a pot metal lever inside the handle that lets go. If you search the archives you'll find all you need. New handle is about $40. Force 5 sells used for about half.

This can be done by removing the door handle, not necessary to remove the door panel.

Remove chrome strip from handle, pry it up gently, it pops in and out.

1 screw behind this clip, and two inside door jamb, look for rubber plug in the door jamb, behind this plug are the screws, remove these and door handle can be removed and with fingers or screw driver rod can be clipped back on to handle.

Simple fix really, then again the clip may be broken or the door handle itself my be broken, not uncommon on these cars.

Good Luck

Cheers
