Well, I got some spare time this past weekend and asked my friend Bill M. what he thought the clunk was. He said he once had an Audi that clunked in the driver's side footwell too, and it was the tranny mount.
Crawl up under her and ....bingo. Driver's side tranny mount completely collapsed.
So an hour and a half later, one new tranny mount (bought the other side too, but ran out of time)in and the clunked is greatly diminished - about 95% gone. Whoever guessed tranny mount a week or so ago you hit the nail on the head.
Oh, and the other 5%? Driver's side control arm looks like the rubber is letting go, so that's on the chalkboard for upcoming events.

While I've got my engine out, I'll have to get in there to inspect it, but I just replaced them 6 months ago. Oh well, whatever it is, it will be resolved very soon.
Glad to hear you got it fixed.
Chris
