Steve...That style of header would probably work well in your car, a bit more room and no AC to deal with on the "hot side." To give an idea of the width difference of the typ44 over the typ8B, the TransAm header would put the turbo squarely into my frame rail, while it would clear in yours...Also, with either design, your factory down pipe wouldn't work (from what it looks like), but thats nothing that couldn't be solved. Also, the TA cars were running EFI, you can seel the fuel rail fittings in the pic you posted
.
So, my header will be a "short tube" and yours would be a "long tube". Would we notice the difference in performance potential? Probably not with a turbo hung off the header...

It would be nice if someone produced headers for our cars for a reasonable price. That looks well made, I wish I knew how to weld, but I don't have time to learn. Headers + EFI would = lots of fun.

Would you be willing to make some for me? If so about how much you think you would want to charge? I think I could have my downpipe done at home by my dad or brother.

It wouldn't be a whole lot, because it'd be mild steel (coated, unless you want to get it jet-hotted) with mild steel flanges. And after I make 1 or 2, it'd go a lot faster.
I won't do any bending, I'll be using pre-bent tubes cut down and welded together to get the proper shape. Don't have access to a tube bender for use with the radii and pipe diam. I'd be using.
