Default Fresh Paint :-)

Well I finally got the winter car ( 1987 Audi 5000 qt CD ) painted and back on the road ...what a job. I would like to thank one of the members for his help ... Yentemad ( Dave ).
Well after about 6 weeks of a little bit here and there I got the job done . Ran into a few problems when I painting so it isn't perfect. If you have ever painted a car before you know there is so much to know and or learn ... what sort of spray gun ? Psi, cfms, paints , primer, sealers, cleaners , sand paper, wet sanding , welding, fillers , fabrication, ya you get the idea. Process wise the car has been sanded 4-5 times washed two times during the process. 2 coats of primer , 2 coats of primer and three coats final paint. I opted not to use clear coat as this is my first paint job.

Cheers
Superdave

Default Nice. I like the color of yours. What color did Audi call that?

Did you have much if any rust to deal with?

Default the paint booth did the trick , but it was like ....

....... having sex in the back seat of a small car , it's possible but not that easy

The booth was sealed up with a light plastic sheeting ( cost 20.00 ) I used a downdraft set-up a large furnace filter at the top rear with a large fan at the lower front of the garage to expel the Paint fumes . The car and the plastic sheeting was grounded , so there was no change of static electrical discharge .

the color of the Audi was the original color Stone Gray Metallic Clearcoat LY7U/U8
