Fuel Accumulator
So almost immediately after posting my '88 5kq non-turbo on craigslist I started it to let a friend use it and found that the rusty fuel lines at the accumulator finally failed.
I had thought that one of them was hard plumbed all the way to the front (can't remember) and the shorter line has a fitting (which I most likely will destroy trying to remove).
What, if any, are my choices for a quick fix. I paid $400 for the car and ran it all winter without any problems at all. With this problem, the broken windshield and the fact that it is not all one color leads me to believe that attempting to sell for a profit will be a waste of my time.

The fuel pump/accumulator arrangement is a little different on MK2 than it is on a Scirocco so I can't give you exact details but basically, you cut the fuel line running from the pump to the and connect it to the fuel line that runs from the acculumator to the engine.

if you're looking for a cheap fix, just remove it and double clamp a piece of rubber hose to the hard lines, it'll be a little harder to start after sitting for a while but it'll work just fine

so it's not under a lot of pressure. Is it just a resevior?
I'm happy to remove it, grab what I want from it and send it.
Thanks for the responses.

well, yes it is just technically a resevoir, helps reduce pressure spikes in the system and such, but the pressure from the fuel pump is still going through it.
you'll need good quality fuel injection line(make sure it's fuel injection, not just fuel line, there IS a difference) and you'll want to like I said double clamp it, so two clamps on both ends(for a total of four) and make them all real tight
