the pump will start when i start cranking but it won't turn on just when i turn the key. hmmm ...... fuse? relay? what gives?

you can make them run by putting a fuse in the relay but you shouldnt leave it in, as thats diagnostics.

my 86 5k decided to stop turning on the fuel pump all together. we didn't feel like spending all day looking to see where the problem was, being wiring or computer or whatever, so i ran power to the fuel pump straight from the battery. i ran it through the dash and put a switch and fuse. now the beast runs great.

that coulda been a simple fuse.

Most likely the fuelpump relay if it wasn't getting power.

agreed that it's the relay, if the fuse for that blew out, there'd be other things that didn't work either.
