Fuel pump sucking in AIR??

Fuel pump sucking in AIR??
87' CSTurbo, with new pierburg pump, was registering half full when I made an extreme right turn down a freeway onramp. The onramp is about a full 360 degree turn and is very steep.
My car started to run like it was stumbling for gas, it would not purge what I'm thinking is Air in the fuel lines.
What the f%$&!!!
I can't imagine this with a half-full tank.
I had to wait a full hour, fill the tank with another gallon of gas, and then top off the tank, and then the car ran smooth.
Has anybody encountered this??

Re: Fuel pump sucking in AIR??
If it was recently installed perhaps it is not sitting nicely down in the holder. If the clips that hold the pump at the bottom of the tank aren't engaged it is possible that the hard right turn moved enough of the gas to the left side of the tank to starve the pump for fuel, even with half a tank. However if this was the case I would think that you would certainly have a beef with whichever shop put it in.

I installed it and remember pushing down on it till all three tabs "clicked".
There was some black gooey stuff in the tank around the plastic clip that I didn't clean off really good. Could this be causing some problems??
