Got the exhuast welded, not a permanent fix but it'll hold for a little bit

They welded the pipe back to the cat, it's quiet now but I can tell this won't be a permanent fix. They showed me today that the muffler(s) (looks like there's 3 of them but maybe they aren't all mufflers I don't know) have small rusted holes in them probably due to the age of the car. The exhuast pipe had actually rusted off of the cat, it had been welded back on years ago and had rusted back off. Everything from the catalytic converter back to the muffler is rusted or starting to rust, I can only imagine how much an exhaust pipe and muffler could cost from audi but a shop by my house will custom build me an aftermarket exhaust, piping and muffler, for about $250.
My new question is: is there any problem with using a custom aftermarket exhaust starting at the cat with the turbo quattro? I wouldn't think I'd need to use audi parts for this.

I don't see why it should be a problem. The last cat I bought was about $105.00. The head pipe to the cat might be cheaper to buy than fabricate.
