Everyone rightfully complains that the headlights do not provide enough light. Those with nice 5k's and willness to spend, often upgrade to eurolights, and I believe add relays and some new wiring to handle the heavy current requirements.
The blame for the bad light is often placed on the DOT standard, (Department of Transportation). But, I know that the lights in the Honda CRX that I owned were considerable better than my audi light, and they too had to satisfy DOT standards.
Which leads me to ask, has anyone pulled the headlights from a saab, a honda or some other mark and installed them into the Audi. On "pimp my ride" I saw them add completely new lights to a beat up ford tauraus, and I'd like to pimp my ride the boneyard way by changing headlights to a different mark.

There was a post about a week ago about trying ...............
headlights from a Ford Ranger pickup. You may want to read that post. I don't think that there are any known cars or trucks that you can just "bolt on" their lights to a type 44, because headlight design is just heavily engineered into each car. That is why guys go the Audi euro model route to get a good fit on their North American Audi models.
