Default An observation afterwards...

I was amazed at how easily alot of this stuff came apart. The fact that it was a southern car with some recent manifold/turbo/head work ensured that most of the bolts easily came apart...

Pulling the head with the EM, IM, Wastegate and turbo attached made the job easier. However it was a major PITA getting all of that to slide up and over the Raceware headstuds. It took 4 of us to get it up and over the studs evenly...

At one point I had the 2 piece manifold, the K-26 hybrid turbo, the newish head with a Schrick cam sitting on the bench. I looked at Jim Bush and said "wow, there's a lot of money sitting here. I could sell this stuff and buy another 5ktq." Tempting, but what fun would that be...?

I have to say that the factory turbo coolant feedline is a piece of crap...

I estimate it took me and Jim about 5-6 hours of actual work to pull the head. Alot of time was spent calculating, arguing, pondering, dicussing stuff

I think we did OK timewise. I'm sure others can do it faster...

How does the cylinder wall look on #1? Any scoring?

When I finally get the $$$ to rebuild my MC, and pull the 7A, I'll show you what happens when you break two intake valves on #3...Its not pretty, and causes your car to run like mine does (ie, oil usage waaay above normal).

Default The pipe wrench

The pipe wrench was used to get the oil filter off, I think I may need to look into getting a better something for that. Don't they make a wrech just for that???

Default I dunno about that Steve

You and Jim are very knowledgeable and seem to be great with hands on stuff. Doing what you did isnt an "everyday" task, and Ive never done it myself! The pictures are interesting though, what are you going to do now? Possilble just to swap out the exhaust valve, or not?
Are ya still comin to South Bend Saturday??

Mike
