Give us a run down on what you have and have not done. If the valve is working then either the controls aren't actuating it or there is not enough heat in the coolant system... pressure leak drops the pressure and temperature.

Default Fan responds to temperature sensors....

so that tells you that the fan is trying to pick up the heat.

Other posts I have read mention a damper that the spring breaks on and the cold air just floods in. Check all the vacuum lines to the control unit <- huge PITA. On one scrap car I saw a block of wood wedging the damper on the passenger side of the car closed. You access it under that plastic coverat the base of the windshield under the hood.

Default Other way around...

The flap falls open and lets the cold air in... I think. The location is correct.

You should be able to. It tips out from the top towards the windshield. Tyhe one I saw was wedged closed with a scrap of 2"x4". My guess is that the flap will be hanging open.

Default There are two kinds...

One is really thin, weak plactic. The other feels much heavier. In either case be careful with them. There are also some metal clips that have a tendency to get lost. They clamp it to the thin metal lip. You'll also have to remove the rubber weather strip across the engine bay side and one wiper if I recall correctly. It is not too labor intensive and since you are a guy that does his own break work it should be a breeze.

I've got to hit the hay... good luck with that.
