Default Heater vents

I turned my "AC" on, i have no belt on the compressor and it didnt work prior to that anyway, but the air came out only the main vents. But whenever i have the heat on, if i get any air out of those vents im lucky. what could cause the heater to not blow air out of them but when it is on cool it does?

Default Re: Heater vents

It's the climate control computer.
It doesn't care where you, the owner of the car wants the air to flow out of, they have determined what's best.
Blame GM, since it's a OEM part from them.
You also don't have ultimate control over the recirculation flap either.
Depending on your inputted temperature, and the ambient and cabin temperature, the climate control will select where the air flow comes out under AUTO.
If you set for 'heat' by raising the temp setting above the current cabin temp, then it directs air to the floor. Once reached, the fan shuts down, or if fan speed is selected, it redirects air through the main vents and usually blows cooler air.
IMHO, climate control sux.
