When I recently purchased my '89 Audi 200, it needed a fuel pump for it to run. I installed the pump and it is working fine now, but the car won't start. The engine doesn't even have a spark. What should I check? Was the car I bought a dud? Heh...

Start with the basics and keep going from there..

No spark at what point? The plugs or the coil?

Go to the following link and perform the DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code).

Crank the engine for 5 sec and leave the key in the on position. Perform the DTC and determine if a sensor is the problem.<ul><li><a href="http://www.sjmautotechnik.com/TROUBLE_SHOOTING/ecuf.html#fc5kt">DTC Link</a></li></ul>

when mine was a no start, i had spark at the coil, but no spark at the plugs - turned out to be a broken timing belt.
