Hesitation
It's not a real problem, but the engine in my 86 5ktq stumbles or hesitates for a second when accelerating off of idle. (sort of like the fuel can't keep up). After that it purrs smoothly up to 4500 rpm or more. Is there anything simple to check or replace?

I agree, injector problem...before replacing injectors..........try using fuel injector cleaner.....
suggest the good stuff like Techron, or TL-3. Cost about $5-6/bottle. Cheaper stuff is a waste of time. Add a bottle, then adding a full tank of gas. I add the fuel injector cleaner first, then refuel so the cleaner gets mixed well with the new gas added to it. Don't refill the tank until you are down to about the last 1/8 of the tank. You should start noticing engine performance improvement after about 100 miles of driving, but run that tank down low before refilling. You don't want to dilute the injector cleaner with new gas too soon.
Some cheap gas just doesn't seem to have enough detergent to keep the injectors clean. Keep that in mind when refueling.
Consider replacing the rubber "O" rings that seal the base of the injectors, if you have this type of injector system
Seldom do injectors wear out. I have 300K miles on a set in my Audi ............Rooster
