OK guys...I can't seem to find a "cheap" turbo engine around (go figure)...I asked Force 5 and they said 350...but that's in Maine? so shipping and all of that = no...
So... there are a LOT of 5Ks n/t n/q in the junkyards...Would the turbo snap on? I read this somewhere in the forums...so can someone "school" me on this subject?
Thanks in advance!

Downtown Concord, I believe. Not that far since you're in RI, right?
May be worth the drive. $350 isn't bad for an MC.
You will need the complete engine, ecu, wiring harness, downpipe, turbo, etc, etc to do the swap. Not an easy task but it can be done...
Just ploping a turbo onto an existing 5cyl engine is not an easy task. You'll need almost all the same parts as a complete swap, have to lower compression, etc...
I'm probably not the person to ask about adding turbo's to stock engines, so I'll let the someone else chime in there...
It might be easier to just buy a cheap 5ktq?
It's your call. Good luck!

The turbo stuff from a KH or MC will bolt to a KZ, JT, NF, or NG w/out problems. HOWEVER, you must be careful of compression ratios! I would not run a MC turbo on an NF or NG, as both of those engines have 10:1 compression, while the MC has 7.8 and 8.3:1, depending on year. A KZ or JT may work out better, check the CR value first. The other thing to consider is knock sensor stuff. Do those NA 10v's have knock sensor equipement? I cannot remember (NF/NG do).
Otherwise, you'd have to swap in the MC's various electronic boxes, the 1000000 vacuum lines and controls, extra wiring, exhaust system, etc to make it all work, so it is doable.
$350 for an MC engine isn't bad, if it comes complete with electronics. But I would keep looking for a complete car, I've known 5ktq's to go for $350 (not running). Running ones are more expensive, $500-3000 depending on condition and mileage.

no...I'm not planning to turbo a non-turbo 5K lol...I want to change an engine on a 86 5KTQ...but I think it might be cheaper to turbo KZ?
I don't know...thanks for the advice though
