Honking BPV? Sounds like a low volume horn on acceleration... only at low-mid RPM...

pretty specific as to how much gas I'm giving it - means probably that it must be associated with boost... also, I don't think that it happens with the clutch in.
Also when under higher boost when I let off the gas a little bit I get a rattlesnake noise... air pulsing through some kind of valve.
Me thinks its time for a new BPV - and mine is still the original AFAIK.
Do these sounds seem consistent with my hypothesis?
Any suggestions on a nice BPV for me? I've heard the 710(n?) from the TT works well - but I may be more inclined to go with a fancier piston type dealie as long as it doesn't break the bank.
What do you think?

I've done a lot of reading today and I don't know if its worth beleiving or not... A lot of the big name valve people (stratmosphere, turboxs, bailey, the RS one that Javad sells) all claim to greatly increase flow, open faster, improve response, have better holding characteristics, heat proof, impervious to breaking, are entirely serviceable, and can leap over mighty buildings in a single bound.
Anyone know if this is bull**** or legit? I like the claims they all make, but realistically is a spiffy new valve at $100-150 dollars going to boil down to any performance gains or should I just get the 710n?

At $125, you could buy approximately 3 or 4 oem bpvs. The question is how long do you plan on keeping your car and how often do these things go bad with higher boost?

With a stratmosphere valve that I haven't touched since installing it ~4 years ago.

the aftermarket ones will hold much more pressure than stock one will , if your running say 20 psi or less yours should be fine the aftermarket ones claim to hold up to 60 psi (dont know how one would get that much)
I dont think you'll see any performance gain.
I had a bailey's on my 01 GTI didn't seem to be any different and i was running about 14.5 psi on that car . it was pretty though but $$$$

on sustained boost pulls - which is not what I want considering my ECU doesn't like to provide that much fuel. Once I get everything dialed in I will be seeing about 30 PSI.
I went expensive (and probably stupid) and got the hyperboost by stratmosphere... figured I spent this much already on the turbo etc. and had originally wanted the fast spool so I went ahead and did it - at least I know I'll never need to replace it (well, hopefully)... I like that idea - can't find that much with an audi.
