How is this for awesome?
Sunday morning, I came outside and discovered some ******* figured I didn't need a windshield.
Jumped up on the hood and kicked it out I guess, there's a little dent on the hood too. Pissed me off pretty good.
Now I've got to try and get the glass out of my parts car - any tips?

kids on my street danced on the roof of my car ...(not my Audi though). Next time they came to visit I informed them they could come once their parents had ponied up 500 bucks for their stupidity.

Not likely you can extract the windshield intact if it was installed properly with the adhesive caulk. If you can sneak a piece of coathanger through/beneath the caulk and then pull some thin wire behind it, add handles to the wire and operate with someone inside and someone outside, you might be able to cut the adhesive without damaging the windshield. You also could do a fair amount of damage to the paint.

Glass is cheap. (not as cheap as spare car cheap, but cheap). my front window was 300 dollars installed ..and it had the radio antennae in it. I was suprised at cost. 300 installed. good deal..you can do better i'm sure (that was cash, no tax, sticking it to my fellow man with the underground economy)

Same happened to my 200. Its worth the 300 to 400 bucks to have it professionally done and its cheaper if u dont get the original molding but have them custom fit you some. Plus odds of doing it yourself chances are good for problems unless youve done it before.

You can get it done for $300ish with the chrome trim...$225ish if you use the black rubber trim. Shop around.
I just had this done on my car for $125 installed(I provided the windshield)
with the black trim.
Good luck getting that windshield out without damaging it or the paint. Whatever you do, get someone reputable to do the job or you will regret it. I can't tell you how many 5000/200's I've parted out with replacement windshields that were rusty all the way around because some ******** wasn't careful pulling the windshield.

guitar, bass or piano string to cut out the old window (don't rush). you can buy the adhesive at an auto parts store. sometimes the 300 just isn't available, good luck.

Anytime I bothered to salvage a windshield it would hold out to the last couple of inches. I need to get one for my car as well and will probably make the attempt for **** and giggles.
If you have another set off wheels get the insurance upgrade and drive the other car until some "scumbag breaks your windshield"
