Default Hypothetical Situation re: 200 0-60 times

Okay, I got into a debate with a friend, and I want the opinions of this quite knowledgable group. The discussion was a 0-60 launch of a 91' 200 20vtq. We're taking a stock car, but you can change any minor item that you want -- tear out the carpet, change the wheels/tires, put in 93 octane gas, etc. you get the point ... small things. On a given 'ideal' day with a given 'ideal' launch (no, that does not mean down hill!) could this car break a six second 0-60 time. My claim is that it potentially could, and I cited the Sports Car International Article (6/91) where they achieved a 6.13 second 0-60 time. My argument was that, given everything being perfect, a more worn-in car, an experienced driver, etc. you could get that down another .14 seconds. His argument was that, basically, .14 seconds isn't something that can be dealt with through experience and weather alone. I know from my own experience that I used to be able to run 0-60s in the 6.2s a few years ago on a largely stock car (no mods). Thoughts?

Default Drag racing is almost pure power to weight

To gain .14 it would probably be easier to add horespower to effect the power to weight ratio that it would be to effect the ratio by reducing weight.

Default There was a VERY funny site where they worked on a low budget...

Nissan (I think). The guy was going to the drag strip with some pals and wanted to impress them with lo E.T.'s. It was all tongue in cheek but basically they stripped the whole car down to a driver's seat, FWD drivetrain, emergency spares for rear wheels... that's it... lowered weigth and a faster car. The funnniest part was they stripped it down is stages and took pics of each stage... yes they actually did it.

I haven't got time to look. Perhaps someone can find the link.

Default 6 sec flat maybe, but not into the 5's.

empty the car's trunk, slick tires, run a small lawn mower battery, only a few gallons of gas/Toluene, larger diameter shorty exhaust, no cat, stiffer wastegate spring, intercooler water spray,
higher boost and/or water injection.

Should gain you 0.14 sec.

Default I think it was a car mag site. Meant as a joke.

They stripped a Sentra. Went so far as to remove doors and windshield.
