The big bolt is missing from the bottom backside of the caliper mount. It's a 17mm. I need the part number. Also, the CV arm is loose at the same wheel and the car will not drive at all...and you can hear that CV spinning. Could the caliper being loose have caused the CV to slide out or something? Vagcat has nothing on this. Grrr.

The bolt that holds the caliper carrier to the strut housing is:
N 907 085 02 (M12x1.5x35-SV)
The caliper has nothing to do with the CV. The large bolt that holds the CV in the bearing is:
4A0 407 643 A (M16x1.5.77)
Its fairly rare that the CV would just "fail", unless there was no boot. Maybe what you are hearing is the bearing, which would fail and when rolling would make quite a racket.
Do you use a PC or a MAC? and are you broadband or dialup?
LMK.

V8QinNJ is right about the caliper bolt, not related. If you hear the CV spinning and no drive then the CV inner cage busted or the axle shaft broke somewhere at some point, interrupted power flow to the wheel hub..

My parts house does'nt sell bolts I hear. I KNOW I need that caliper bolt. I have a PC on broadband. I Can compensate you for your time helping me with this. It looked like the shaft was pulled out of the wheel end boot. Boots look great though. I also am going to go ahead and get new brake lines. Thanks so much.

Is the bolt (17) missing from the end of the axle? If so, and if that car's had its weight on the wheels and been rolled around, the wheel bearing most likely is ruined too.
If the bolt is in place and the axle spins from the transmission but does not turn the wheel, then the outer CV has failed inside its boot.
