Default I think I have an exhaust leak

Is there a gasket/doughnut on the aft end of the converter where it meets the exhaust system? It's not a knocking type sound like some exhaust leaks. This sounds more like a diesel idling. You can't really hear it unless you happen to be standing on the pass side of the car while it's running. I went under the car while running and it sounds like it's coming right from where the converter is. This is for an 87 5KCSTQ

before the car gets warmed up go under and hold your hand around the exhaust and you should be able to feel the leak. then you will know right where it is leaking.
