Driver side bolt for rear bumper is stripped. What are my options? There is a little bit left to grap but not enough to accomplish much. I've heard of drilling out bolts but I've never done that. Can I buy something at Sears and Roebuck? (I still like to call it that) I thought someone made a tool set for this application. TIA

This device will split the nut. You will have to replace the nut and most likely the bolt too.

Yeah, I plan to put in a new bolt. Where can I buy this nut splitter? It's just the bolt isn't it? I don't think there is a nut. Or is there? I thought it was the same set up as the front bumper. Thanks!

Depending on how much there is left to grip, this might be an option... It freezes the bolt and not the surrounding area, which shrinks it slightly (this loosens it and breaks the rust bond) plus it has lubricants to further loosen the bolt. I've used it and it's great...
Good luck whichever route you go...

'Easy-out'? From Sears. they are designed to fit on the outside of the nut and have sharp 'teeth' that bite in with a lefty-loosey turn. If there is enough room I highly recommend them. Tap it on with a mallet so it is seated firmly. Then apply increasing load until the easy-out has definitely bitten in. Keep cranking and it will break it loose eventually. Don't try and use an impact gun on it.

I saw those and need to buy them. Those should come in handy. HOWEVER, I'm not sure about all 5K's but on mine the bumpers are held on with a round bolt with a HEX in the center. If those access holes in the bumper were a little larger I'd be able to fit one of those "easy outs" around the bolt but the the access holes are only large enough to accomodate a hex key. Am I retarded and missing something? Seems to me that I need something that can drill into the center of the bolt (through the stripped hex) then reverse it back out hopefully bringing the bolt out with it. I thought something like that exists but I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. Hell hath no fury like an Audi with rusted bolts!
