Default I'm driving 'Vintage Audi' again!

Say hello to my "new" 1983 Audi 5000 Turbo Diesel. It's in really amazing shape, mostly because the previous owner was an Audi mechanic. It only has 116k miles, and only 40k on a brand new factory Audi motor.

Excuse the pics from my old crappy digital camera. The car is dirty anyway except the engine compartment which I detailed yesterday.

Any T43 forums around? I know this one is geared towards the T44, and was tremendously helpful when I owned my old '87 Avant.

Thanks and enjoy!

Default Very nice, reminds me of my old 82 5000s! Same color too!

Default Beautiful!

That is a nice looking car - the whitewalls are a nice touch ;-) - be careful with the underhood detailing - the radiator ducting is made of cardboard (at least on the T43's I've seen) and biodegrades if you look at it the wrong way.
As far as the forums go, the Vintage, Misc. Models, 4000/CGT and Type 44 forums are all equally decent for posting questions about the Type 43 - with very few folks saying "Dude....you're in the wrong forum".
T43 stuff is also occasionally discussed on Audifans.com

Default Re: Beautiful!

I did forget about the delicate nature of the radiator ducting, but I didn't really spray much that direction fortunately. It's still in OK shape, though it is starting to degrade a bit. I should probably trace a template now while it's still in good shape.

Is that T43 you posted a diesel also? Mine is missing the '5000' emblem, and I wondered if there was a 'Diesel' emblem as well on the trunk?

Default Mine's not a Turbo Diesel...but...

This one was:
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/23847/83_5ktd_arrive.jpg">
....there are pics in my Pictureposter of how it left our place...not for faint of heart....
I'll have a look at the trunk lid to see what decals were on it - it's possible that they were removed but the residue will still be there. IIRC it said Audi 5000 on the left and Turbo Diesel on the right.
BTW, does your car have a sunroof? The one I got did not have one - apparently the ones shipped to the US southwest didn't have sunroofs (and judging from the cactus shaped lighting in your pictures, you're not posting from Nome, Alaska....)
I'll post a pic tomorrow.
Cheers!

Default It does have a sunroof . .

and the car's been in AZ since '99 or so, but I don't know where it was before that.

As for rear trunk, that's the only faded paint on the car, and it's bad so you can't really see anything now. The previous owner put a 'Turbo Diesel' emblem from a Volvo on the back, but it's to 'cursive' to be and Audi badge .
