Intermittent stalling

A couple nights ago I was driving along for an hour or so when I came to a stop light and the car wouldn't idle. I saw that it was about to die and saved it, but the rest of my drive was a little tricky (try to use one foot to hit the gas and brake at the same time). But, I made it to my apartment. The next morning the car started right up and there was no sign of no idle issue. It was fine until today when I drove about 20 minutes and it started up again. I checked the ISV and cleaned it, but that didn't help. The car runs good through the rest of the rpm band. The patient is a 87 5ktq.
Thanks!

I'm assuming you mean the car is idling as if the ISV were unplugged so if this is the case the next time the car acts up, go under the hood and unplug the ISV and see if it stays the same. If it does then that means the ISV stopped running and you most likely need either a new ISV or a new ISV control valve. I had the exact same problem almost 2yrs ago and I ended up have to put in a new ISV. Cleaning the old one didn't do a thing. HTH

my problem in my 20v... I don't think your car had that... but just in case it did... thats something to check, as I had the exact same symptoms in a few 20vs (mine and a friends)... replaced the bpv and bam... fixed.

Here's how the ISV works: Turn the ignition on and go pop the hood. Don't start the car. feel the ISV, it should be vibrating. Next time it acts up pull over and feel the isv. It will probably not be vibrating (leave the ignition where it is even if the car dies). If the isv loses any current at any time, then it will stay off until the ignition switch is reset. This will verify if the isv is the problem. If it is the isv, then check why the current is intermittant- bad isv,bad plug to isv, bad wiring, bad isv controller. My issues were solved with a new plug, the cheapest fix of them all. Probably worth your time to replace the plug first.
