Just slightly disappointed in my IA Stg III ECU.

Sorry, I can't remember the explaination, but
it has something to do with the ECU "thinking" that is only putting out 1.8, when it is actually producing more.
What a chip does is change the "look-up" tables in the ECU. The ECU takes the data coming in from all sensors, then uses the look-up table to determine fuel and timing; change the tables, change the output for a given input. I will try to find an explaination for the 1.8 reading.

Hey...
The stock 20vt boost gauge with a stock ECU should be able to read up to 2.0 bar...
However, when upgrading to the 2.5 bar or 3.0 bar pressure transducer it will throw off the stock boost gauge readings.
If using a 2.5 bar transducer you will need to multiply the gauge reading by 1.25
If using a 3.0 bar transducer you will need to multiply the gauge reading by 1.5
I think the IA stage 3 chip comes with a 2.5 bar transducer.
If so then 1.8 bar boost gauge indicated x 1.25= 2.25 bar absolute pressure. Thats about 17-18 psi.
If Chris is running 17-18 psi he should feel a big difference over stock settings.
Since he isn't, I think he got a bunk ECU or he's got some boost control issues with the car...

Re: Bunk ECU?
I checked vw snipers auction history and Chris's ECU is the second "IA ECU" he has sold and there is a third up for auction. Every auction shows the exact same ECU, furthermore it is always an IA modification and he always requires an unmodified ECU as part of the transaction, send him yours, if it checks out he sends out the chipped ECU. Before all this I was going to bid on one of these ECUs but know I am not so sure.

Re: Hey...
Stephen,
Okay, I'm an idiot. Because my car feels just as strong as Tom Egbert's IA stg III's chipped car. After comparing the the stock ECU and the IA one, I guess I have to say that the car certainly does perform better. I'm going to give it some time and see if it starts responding better.
Thanks for everyone's concern.

WARNING!!!
He stated that my ECU was an Intended Acceleration, but the ones he has up right now are "Independent Audi Works". I had my buddy call him up to ask him the number on the back of the ECU he is currently selling, because Ned marks them all with a special number. He told my buddy that it is not an Intended Acceleration ECU (as the ad leads you to believe), but an Independent Audi works.
Someone do me a favor and call him up and see what kind of ECU he's selling. My chip appears to be good, but I've never heard of Independent Audi Works. See if you can pump him for info. If he's claiming it really is an Intended Acceleration chip, see if you can get him to read you the number off the back.
Thanks,
Chris

Re: WARNING!!!
He may be using the IA code...someone with a PROM burner to dump the eproms of an IA chip and one of his want to buy one? Or maybe notify Ned at IA about this potential problem??
