Anyone knows how to open the rear passenger door of an 87 5000 TQ? Both the outside handle and the inside handle refuse to open the door. All other doors open. Thanks for any suggestions in advance.

I have the same problem - rear passenger door stuck on my 5kcs.
I got it open with the wife pulling up on the lock and pushing from the inside and me pulling from the outside. Took a few tries though.
I then filled the locking mechanism with lithium grease and locked/unlocked the door about 50 times with it still open.
It worked for about 2 weeks. Now it won't open again.
A slimjim didn't work for me.
If you do manage to get the door open you'll find out what a weird design the LOCKING part of the door latch is when you take it off the door.
What I think might be the problem with my door (it had some bodyshop work) is that the vacuum actuator hasn't been extended enough to actually unlock the door. The actuator is threaded at the top and can be lengthened or shortened.

to get the door open, I finally removed the back seat to be able to gain access to the door latch through the weather stripping. Then using an old screw driver, I pried at the door latch mechanism from the inside. Finally, the mechanism broke, so the door would swing open.
Examing what was left of the door latch, I found it rusty and full of crud. It was never going to open as it was suppose to. I replaced the door latch, and that fixed the problem. Suggest going to a wrecking yard to get a replacement latch. They are cheap. Removing one from a junker is a good learning experience in teaching you how to R & R the latch. VW and Audi latches are very similiar in design.........Rooster

Last time we did it in a crazy way.
My friend's winter beater '84 5000 left rear door got stuck, couldn't open from inside or outside. So, I told my friend to pull the handle, while I was lying at a back seat kicking door by leg.
Well, not a nice way, but it was a winter beater anyway. Eventually we opened the door, since never had a same problem again.
