Default Looking for real help 91 V8 4.2 or 96 A8 4.2?

Hello all, new member with serious questions (not belittling any other member's questions)...I am trying to make an informed decision between nearly identical 91 and 92 Audi V8 4.2 Quattros (each have about 196000 kilometers on them and physically look near identical) and a 1996 A8 4.2 Quattro...all of them automatics, all appear to be well cared for.....what is the difference between the engines being 5 years apart? Will the parts availability be comparable?? This is a move I have hoped to make for a long time and I appreciate any and all help you can give....keep drviing!

The V8 is a cooler car, the A8 is a better car. Not sure about parts compatibility, but V8's require a lot of maintenance.

Having been a V8 guy for about 12 yrs now, my first comment would be that people come up to me and say "Cool car, what kind of Audi is that?"....Whereas if I was driving an A8(apology to all the A8 crowd beforehand), people wouldn't say anything to me. The V8 seems about 1/3 smaller even if it really isn't. The A8's motor is certainly more desireable, and my friend's 98 A8 is a pleasure to drive. I've done a few things on his car, and while I don't know the car well, it does drive really nice.....In the US, the 1990-91 were the 3.6 (PT) motor, with the 4.2(ABH) on the 92-94. A friend of mine who owns a fleet of older high end cars(never driven an Audi of anykind) test drove my 91 5-speed for me(listed in his county), and has also drove that A8 and said he much preferred/liked the look of the 91....If I had tons of free time/money, I'd probably put that newer A8(ABZ?) in my 5 -speed and love it, but I'm fine for now....Both are going to eat money, and if you live somewhere that a 91 didn't come with a 4.2, then assume that someone has already done some stuff/ seals that the A8 might not have.......My money's on the V8

91 & 92 V8's differ greatly. Interior bits, climate control, etc...... More noticeably is the motor. 91 has a 3.6 while the 92 has a 4.2. Trans's internals differ as we'll.

I'm not too familiar with A8's cause quite frankly there not my thing! It's plain with no character..... Did I mention boring!!! U will find one if the best chassis built was the D11 V8 one!!!!

Parts availability varies. In the US u just gotta know who too ask.
