Default Low Oil Pressure Warning Light issue on 91 200 20v

Hey Guys,

I just put a new oil pressure sender and low oil pressure switch into the 20v during my motor swap. I now get the low oil presure warning light in the Autocheck display, even though oil pressure is fine, according to the gauge. There are no oil leaks, and the connections on the oil pressure sender are confirmed correct. The strange thing is, when oil pressure drops to 2.0 bar or below, the warning light turns off. Strange, eh? I've replaced the oil pressure switch with another new one, and no difference. I do not believe this is an instrument cluster gremlin, as this did not occur just two weeks ago before I plugged in the new sensors.

Anyone BTDT?

TIA,
Jim

Default Did you install them in the correct locations?

The sensor for the gauge should be on top and the switch for the warning should be down low. It would be pretty hard to mess up the wiring to the switch as it's easily identified with it's single connector and boot. What where specs on the new switch you installed? Could be the cluster Ron's 20v was doing this then it went away. Just make sure there's oil flowing to the head. Another thing it could be is oil pressure check valve behind the switch.

if you replaced either sensor you may have gotten wrong one for your car . if you have old ones clean the base of them off they should have part number and pressure range stamped on them . there are two versions of larger sensor, one is .3 bar for light other is 1.6bar for light portion

Default I've had & heard of stranger things Jim. I was replacing my 02 sensor in my ol

87 5kq... pulled the car in.... 1/2 later the car wouldn't start. Long story short... the coil gave up the ghost just after I turned the key off to do the 02 sensor ;-)

But good luck with finding the problem.
I might suggest to put in a known working cluster to see if the light comes on still. The obviousley I'd check the switches/sensors/wires for.
The check pressure on the motor.

Default I have same thing

My autocheck also beeps at me constantly. Seems to be correlated to the 2800rpm mark to a certain extend. But then again...it also beeps at me when crusing at 80 on the freeway. I've replaced both sensor as well. I'm not sure if this is one of the normal instrument cluster gremlins or not. I don't get the christmas tree turn signals or other oddities. I'm about to pull the cluster out and just find the speaker that makes the noise and kill it. As long as the other gague in the cluster reads OK I can monitor everything else.
