the way the cooling system and the heater control valve work. I don't understand how this system has coolant flow through it if the heater control valve is shut off. If the control valve is shut off where does the coolant get diverted to? Also, is the heater control valve on the supply line or is that the return line to the heater core? You would think it's on the supply side but I read that it's on the return side and that doesn't make sense to me. Thank goodness for this forum, because the Bentley doesn't really cover the heating system. TIA

If the valve is shut off the coolant simply keeps flowing through the cylinder head...
It's on the "supply" side of things you could say. The return hose is the one that runs into the metal pipe that T's off to the after run pump and to the thermostadt housing. Follow the hoses and you'll see what I'm talking about.
