Default minor water pump leak

on my son's 1990 Audi 100. Has anyone had any luck with bars leak tablets or other sealers. And if so where do you put the sealer in (expansion tank or upper radiator hose?)

Or would you suggest replacing the pump and i supposed the timing belt while i'm at it. Thanks

Default Re: minor water pump leak

If the water pump is beginning to leak, it's telling you it's on its last legs.
Most water pumps are designed to weep first as an indication that the inner seal around the bearing is going. The bearing is compromised.
It will eventually seize and may snap the timing belt.

I've never had any luck with bar's leak or prestone stop leak. I've tried these in old Detroit motors and imports.

Default Cut to the chase. Replace the pump.

Or you can try the bars and see if it plugs your heater core, then change the pump.

Default Yes, just change the pump...

I'd get a new timing belt, water pump, tensioner, WP oring, thermostadt, etc and replace at the sametime...
