OK i have my new axles on, everything feels great, but i noticed a new sound today that i couldnt hear in the rain drivign yesterday. To me it sounds like the metal gaurd around the brake disc is rubbing on the brake spinning around, but i swear its not touching anywhere! Is there somthign else a sound like this could come from, it obviously increases in frequency as i gain speed, i dont know if it could be a wheel bearing?? hope its not, i guess i need to check the brake gaurd again huh? thanks guys.

because it sounded like a bad wheel bearing. spun both by hand and then, carefuly started up the engine, 1st gear and took it up to 3-4K rpm and NO noise. There was a noticable vibration coming from the rear wheels (either out of balance or out of round tire. Now I'm thinking of bad cords internal of the tires. On the road it sounds like Off-road tires. If it was a bad bearing, shouldn't there be either alot of end play or tightness or a grinding. This really bugs me since it actually drowns out the sterio!

When you jack up the wheels, you are taking pressure off the bearings and you probably wouldn't detect it. I replaced the front ones after I suspected a left bad bearing. Did the same thing (jack) but couldn't detect it. Replaced them anyway. Sure enough, they were bad.
