Default New wastegate spring too stiff (86 5kcstq)

I recently installed a qlcc chip and new wastegate spring in my 86 and on the test drive I found that I am running into the 1.95 bar boost limit of the chip. Is there any way to slightly reduce the spring pressure? I don't want to have to keep an eye on the gauge while I'm pushing it. Car ran fine/ developed normal boost before the mod. I made sure the spring was properly seated when installing. Wastegate cap is stock (not shimmed or otherwise adjusted). I did the chip and spring to my 200tq this spring and have had no problems.

Any one have a 1.8 bar spring they aren't using?

Make sure you ck the line going to the wastegate for leaks. Not sure where you got the spring or the chip, but the original QLCC consensus was that a 1.8 bar spring is 1 black stripe on the top, 2.0 bar spring is 2 black stripes on the top and a 2.2bar spring is 3 stripes on the top.

Most of the hoses were replaced while I was waiting for parts last week, but I will double check. I will look for the stripes when I pull the spring (as soon as it stops raining). I didn't notice any marks, but I didn't really look, either.

Chip and spring came from Chris Semple. Haven't talked to him yet to see if I could have gotten the wrong one by mistake.

Thanks for the help.

I guess I assumed that making the wastegate adjustable meant ADDING spring pressure. Could it be used to decrease spring (and boost) pressure?
