Default No boost from turbo...

So, as I was driving on the highway yesterday, I flipped through my dash display and found my boost gauge read 0.4... and thought, huh, thats not normal. Also, had engine light come on while I was driving, so I got back and pulled the code, looks like intake air temp sensor code, 2322. The connection had fallen out, so today I tried to bridge the connection and see if the boost would return to normal, and alas, it has not. Perhaps need a new sensor? and can that sensor cause this big of a problem?

Default Did you have your foot in it?

if you were cruising on the highway out of the gas, the car wouldnt make boost. (eg. it'd read about .4)

Default well...

The air temp sensor can definitely cause boost problems, are you certain you aren't getting boost from the turbo, or you aren't getting a reading on the display? The display is junk to begin with.

The air temp sensor, coolant temp sensor(s), altitude sensor and a host of other sensors, if faulty, will cause the ECU to turn off your boost - it will revert to a default value and assume the worst.

Try cleaning the air temp sensor with some carb cleaner before you do anything else - doubtful that it will work, but its worth a shot.

I don't think they are too expensive one way or another.

It could definitely be your problem, though.

Default NEVER clean the air temp sensor with carb cleaner

That will certainly cause it to fail.

Sorry Andrew, dont mean to call you out on this one but I would hate for this guy to kill a working sensor....if it is in fact working.

Default Interesting... I'm glad you corrected me... I'd been told this was an okay thing to do!

Is it too harsh? I cleaned mine with a MAF cleaner made by CRC with no ill effects... and it got the carbon off of it which was good.

Why not? How will a solvent damage a thermistor?

Default Re: Did you have your foot in it?

Yea, THis problem was first noticed from about 45 to 80 due to lack of ***** the car had on the highway, still a persistant problem, I figured if the sensor failed the ecu would "assume the worst" and cut off boost, and it appears this is what is happening, I'm going to take the sensor off and clean it and test it if possible with a multimeter, also, i'll probably need a new wire from ecu to sensor, since mine is cut and now spliced, rather poorly though.
