I notice after I've backed out turning the back end to the passenger side. After heading forward... CLUNK... and then that's it. It sure isn't right though.

1. Lower control arms
2. Tranny mount on that side
3. Wallet (just kidding, an old Audi always knows when you have some extra cash)
I had a thump under the footwell recently, and it turned out to be both the tranny mount (completely collapsed, so when turning a corner it would go metal on metal), and the driver's side lower control arm (inner bonded rubber bushing was completely shot - you could pull the inner metal sleeve right out of it). Replaced both and all was happy again.
Let us know what you find.
