Default Nuts. Coolant leak from the front of the engine...

Why do I think that the 'orange' coolant didn't like mr. water pump? The leak is right under the front of the engine, right in the vicinity of the water pump, and the pump is only 30,000 miles old.

Pump is a proper German pump, done by my normal shop (Autobahn Performance in Atlanta).

Might be time to go back to the old green stuff.

Just what I need right about now...

I would check the seal on the back of the pump. Sometimes those things are defective. I guess I would only worry about coolant if there were leaks in other places too. by the way- What is different about the orange coolant from the green ?

Coolant has nothing to do with it. It's got to be the seal on the pump. It was either defective out of the box or the area was not throughly cleaned at installation. The difference between Orange coolant and green coolant is orange is non-phosphorous and green as them. If you own any kind of Audi you should run the orange mixed with one part distilled water (way too much crap in tap water), three parts coolant. This will extend the life of your radiator, especially copper 5000 radiators.

Default Great, I just put that in my 90.

I do not think that it is the coolant however, the major difference is the rust inhibitors, from what I have read. I am sure you can get both in non-phosphorous form.

As others have said, I would look at the pump seal and you might switch to the green just for peace of mind.

Default Take it back to the shop...

if it hasn't been too long since they did the work...

I doubt that the orange coolant ate the rubber gasket...?

You did confirm that it isn't the turbo coolant line running in back of the timing belt cover leaking?

Default Nah, it was about a year ago...

Going to check the little banjo guy off the upper radiator neck, forgot about that little guy. Thanks for the reminder, I'll let you know what I find.
