Oil sensors
Hello all. How many sensors are used in the oil temp/pressure system? I can see the one down by the oil filter. Is there another one for the idiot light? If so, where is it located? Thanks!

Two oil pressure switches on the 5000s.
I suggest that you obtain a shop manual for your car, which will contain this sort of information.
NOTE: The following applies to the 5000s. I don't know about the V-8 engines.
There are two oil pressure switches, which are located on the driver's side of the engine block. They're just aft of the lower radiator hose outlet and are located one above the other.
Low pressure switch: When the oil pressure is too low (below 0.3 bar), the low pressure switch closes and sends a ground signal to the oil pressure control module. When the oil pressure is above 0.3 bar, the switch is open.
The high pressure switch works the opposite of the low pressure switch. When the oil pressure is sufficient (above 1.8 bar), the switch closes and sends a ground signal to the oil pressure control module. When the oil pressure is too low, the switch opens to ground.
The oil pressure control module is integrated into the autocheck control module.
Below 2000 RPM, only the low pressure switch is used to determine low oil pressure.
Above 2000 RPM, the high pressure switch is used to determine low oil pressure.

Re: Two oil pressure switches on the 5000s.
First place to check would be the oil pressure switch, located on the passenger side of the engine, in the housing near the oil filter.
There are two switches, the large one is the Dynamic oil pressure switch and sender for the oil pressure gauge, and the smaller one is the oil pressure switch for the light. Check the connections first.
