Car is '91 200 20v -

I broke off one of the corner tabs on the retaining circlip while removing my outer CV joint (was replacing the boot).



I am having serious difficulty tracking this part down.

Is it the same as the one for the inner joint?

Does any one have the part number or do I need a whole new CV joint?

The parts guy at my local Audi dealership couldn't locate the part (insisted there was no circlip on the outer CV joint!)but as you can see in the pic, it is there..

Autozone had nothing similar and neither did the VW parts people....

Any suggestions?
