Default Paging BMW Slayer is Raising, regarding slotted rotors....

I was thinking about getting a set of ATE slotted rotors. It's either the zimmermans or the ATE's. I've heard a 50/50 response between them.

can I have some opinions on this topic from people who know? I just want to have great brakes without going bigger. I'm using Mintex pads.

thanks guys.

Default well I have solid rotors of the Blandi and ATE rotors....

Blandi is the company that designed the rotors for the famous Audi S1. These rotors are chronoed and is rated 25% stronger then Zimmermann's( I have used them and like the Zimmermann's).

the rear rotors are ATE's, they are good brand of rotor also. The best part of the brake combo are the Remsa Gold pads...they rock....still no dust, okay just a very light dust coat after some heavy 700 miles of driving. Let me know if you want to get some very good brakes for not much money. I got mine for $350.00 shipped all together.

Default I went with unslotted Zimmermans

A couple of people said that there can be durability issues with slotted ones.

I called the guy you got yours from a few weeks ago and he quoted me $180 for a set of bladi's and remsa gold pads. but I dont need pads right now, just rotors.

I was told that the there are'nt durability issues with slottted, just cross drilled......because they crack.

from what I was told the slotted keep the heat down and keep the pads from glazing by acting like a cheese grater.

Default good to hear another audi owner that uses Resma Gold pads.

Default The Bladi's I believe are the same price of the Zimmermanns but are a slightly better rotor.

due to a special process by "Chromoium the rotor". It more resistant to heat and stress then the Zimmermann's. I have Zimmermanns and really like them also. But I went the Bladi's this time.

Slotted, drilled rotors, etc. are a waste of money for street use. How many repeated "panic stops" do you make? Good pads are probably all that you need. The same goes for braided brake lines. They can actually be dangerous, internal abrasion can wear them quickly.
