I'd advise getting it oil sprayed regularly if you're going to drive it in the winter. If the rear valence interior sheet metal is anything like the one on my 1980, it's a sand trap - make sure it's totally cleaned out before oil spraying. Be careful with the plastic bits under the hood - years of heat and oil will make them brittle - esp. the thin plastic (think: Mr. Christies soft cookie tray plastic) cover over the HVAC stuff in front of the windshield. Under that cover you'll probably find all sorts of leaves and stuff accumulated - clean that out with a vacuum, crevice tool and some wire to flick out all of the hidden bits. The lower corners of the windshield and rear window are also rust traps under the trim (it's anodized aluminum "brightwork", so don't use a buffing wheel to make it shiny) - be careful removing the trim from the clips (clips can be rusty, and the interaction between aluminum trim and metal clips can leave little to re-clip)
On the trim issue, I may have the ones missing on the DS rear door and quarter panel.
You can still find front fenders on the eBay stores (although it doesn't look like you need to replace yours).
I would take out the bumper-mounted turn signals, clean them up and re-seal them with a cood sealant to keep the water out - remember to seal the rubber fitting where the wire comes in from the back.
Lastly, make plans for a road trip to see the states between Rapid City, South Dakota and Carlisle, Pennsylvania (and check out how good the Diesel mpg is) in mid-May, so that Mike (Audisport4000) and Chris (icon73) and I can drool over your car ;-)
Cheers!<ul><li><a href="http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/import/index.asp">Carlisle Audi GTG</a></li></ul>
