Re: Power Windows
One common source of problems is the wiring in the driver doorjamb. It breaks down from being the most used door on the car. Pull back the rubber cover and you may see evidence of wire failure. If you have intermittent inoperation (which is what you described), this is the most likely reason. Try when the windows won't work opening the driver door and moving it back and forth while operating the switches. At one point I could only open windows and run the sunroof if I had the driver door half open. All the way open and nothing worked. All the way closed and nothing worked.
Mine got so bad I ended up splicing in new sections on every wire in the driver doorjamb except the speaker wires. I made my splices inside the door and inside the cabin. When I started taking out the wires, I separated all the bound up ones and found many of those also had breaks. Most "fixes" done in the doorjamb itself will only work for a while.
Another possibility is corrosion in the switches, sometimes affected by atmospheric conditions. Cleaning with electronic contact cleaners sometimes helps.

Just went through this myself, you will be amazed what starts to work after the repairs....
Only thing that I can add is I went to Auto Zone and bought wire loom. Gathered up the wires and put them into the loom and then back into the rubber bellows. This took alot of the flex out of the wires and they suport each other. Make sure that you examine all of the wires fro missing insulation though. I soldered and shrunk wrapped my splices and taped where insulation was worn. Added some wire in also where it was too short to make a splice. BTW-The solid brown wires are for lighting to the switches etc., I was amazed at what lit up that I thought was not supposed to

Re: Dashboard Lights
Anybody having problems with the dashboard lights? I'm having trouble with my 1991 200. The dashboard lights come on sometimes and sometimes everything lights up even the blinkers when I'm not using them. Is this a wiring problem?
