Default Re: Pressure Transducer location

It's in the ECU, and I'm not sure it's a 'replaceble' part as such.

Not to say that it 'can't' be replaced though! :-)

Should be able to check by looking at boost/intake pressure on display, and comparing that to a mechanical boost gauge that you've temporarily connected.

If the readings match, then you sensor should be OK. If not, then 'further investigation is required'...

Default You should definitely plumb a temporary boost gauge-preferably...

on the vac line that runs to the ecu, which is located near the front passenger foot well. If the car is making full boost (1.42 bar absolute or 6.1 psi) on the pressure gauge, then the pressure transducer is likely working fine. The pressure tranducer is the component of the ecu that translates manifold pressure so that the ecu can do it's fuel/boost/timing thing. Does the car feel like it's making boost? When you stomp on it in third, does the car pull hard to around 5k rpm? Any running and/or idling issues?

If you don't already have one, suggest getting a Bentley factory service manual or at least a Haynes repair manual.

HTH,
Jim

Pressure transducer replacement is a regular part of quality chip upgrades to the ECU. There are other ways to "trick" the ECU into thinking it is at safe pressure levels, but a new transducer is the better approach.
