Default Where are you getting that? If ADBV is specd, the filter gets one.

There are many ADBV designs and all are not apparent by looking. Wix has a combo ADBV/BPV now. There are spring-loaded and clickers. Basicly, when you see the black or red membrane over the inlet holes, that's the ADBV.<ul><li><a href="http://www.fram.com/products/oilFilters.php">http://www.fram.com/products/oilFilters.php</a</li></ul>

Default More harsh than kero. Ok to pour in at idle, but drain and change out the dissloved sludge...

rather than driving it until the solvent evaporates, redepositing the dissloved sludge evenly inside the engine. Solvent will also thin the oil below the visc needed to protect the parts. Pour in, idle, change oil.

Default Any filter sold will perform within specs. Oil, ambient temp and other factors relate to OP too...

IF there was a signifigant drop in OP, then wear would go up to. UOA studies of wear metals show no differences in filter brands and "quality". I'd like to see more controlled conditons than one guy and one filter.

Default Umm, YOU'VE even posted yourself that Fram is a pos. STFA for more on why Fram sucks.

<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/2617667.phtml">"I just deleted a side-by-side pic of a Fram element vs Puralator. The Fram looked like a pos."</a></li></ul>

Default That's an aesthetic comparison. Show me where Fram damaged an engine, that's all I ask.

Because it won't. Zillions of miles driven on Frams, show me some damaged engines. Are Fram's the worst? Yes. Tough Guard is a pos, but the other ones work fine. Infact, the Extra Guard has screen-over Silicone ADBV and media that is screened in place. Nice filter for $5. I realize there is a lot of old-school sentiment here, but I deal in facts. You know that. I'll browse the filter forum later for that pic and someother Fram-specific stuff. Most only complaint about Fram is the cardboard end caps and messy criped pleats. Cheap filters like this go 30k all the time without disentergrating. In the &lt;10k interval, there is no benefit to ANY filter that is functional.

It could be broken/loose exh manifold studs - sounds like lifter clatter.
