Default Reverse woes

when in reverse my wagon behaves as if it's under a tremendous load. If I fully engage the gear no matter how hight the rpm's b4 hand she'll just die, in all forward gears it shoots forth without issue. What gives? It isn't constant happens half the time. It's weird it just chokes in reverse.
Any ideas?
cheers

Default Re: Reverse woes

Check the center support bearing of the prop shaft and the universal joint aft of it.
Sounds like there may be a lot of play and the joint is binding when in reverse.

I tried reversing up a hill during last winter, and there was a horrible vibration and banging coming from beneath the car. Nothing forward though.
Later I noticed the bearing's rubber surround was sagging. I believe that wore out my universal joint as it makes a slight groaning noise at low speed.
